Non-random-Thoughts : Dasavatharam Kamals 12th Avathar!
  • But we have a rich oral tradition. All non-indian and some indian
indologists do not accept the antiquity of vedas, puranas and ithihasas
because there was no proof of existence of written versions!

  • Yes absolutely. Krishna was a yadava, there are some castes that still identify themselves both in north and south as 'yadavas', non dalits that is. Krishna was dark complexioned that is all, which itself has been diluted much as blue, this and that. The stigma around dark skin color is phenomenal.

  • A simple answer: yes

  • Ramanuja was very aged , 90+ when he went to Melkote. He lived there for
about 12 years. He must be over hundred when he returned to Srirangam.
That means during Kulothunga period. need checking anyway.

  • Dear Sampath,

This is news to me. I thought I read that Ramanuja was in Melkote
during earlier days and not when nearing 90 or 100. Please correct
me if I am wrong here.

Let me also check on this a little, in the mean time.

If what you said is true, then in all probabilities Kulothunga I
should be the KKC. But from all the grants that he has done to
Vishnu temples, and with the absence of any mention related to his
change in mind, it is quite impossible to conceive that Kulothunga I
could be the KKC. Remember that Ennayiram Narasimhar was is Kula
Deivam as well. No where we see that Kulothunga I develop a hatred
towards others, at any stage of life.

Of course, this point gains importance, because the Koil Ozhug and
other Guruparampara Prabhavams do mention that Vikrama Chozha was
    the son of KKC.

But what takes beating is the mention that after KKC, the Chola
dynasty ended. This is true only if AdhiRajendra could have been the
KKC, as with him, the lineage of Chozhas did come to end. Kulothunga
I inherited the throne as a Chozha, but he is a maternal descendant
of the Chozha family, and was paternally Eastern Chalukya.

That is the reason I ask you confirm the age when Ramanuja was in
    exile.
  • Did some Googling and found that what Sampath was saying about the
date of Ramanuja in Melkote was more nearer than what I said
earlier. I found that there were atleast 2 references to Ramanuja
reaching Melkote (Not literally, but a place called Thondanur near
by, before reaching Melkote) in the year 1099AD. His means that he
would have been 82 years of age. If we take into consideration that
he did stay there for 12 years, that puts his age at 94 and the year
as 1111 AD. But the problem is Kulothunga I is NOT dead by this
date. All the records, uniformly, admit that Ramanuja returned to
Srirangam after the death of KKC. So if 12 or even 18 years (I found
this in one of those two sites) is considered as the period of stay
of Ramanuja in Karnataka/Melkote, then KKC (in this Kulothunga I)
being dead does not go well. Also, as said earlier, the Chozha
dynasty, definitely did not end after Kulothunga I. This too throws
    up an ambiguity.

I think we are in for more confusion now.

    Dhivakar Sir,

Can you please step in for help based on your research and finding?
  • Dear Vijay Kumar,

Pleas forgive for my wrong choice of words. Your 'moppa shakti' is
remarkable and fast. I am really overwhelmed.
