Most complete character in PS
  • Hi;
Was just wondering, we've often written about how Kalki couldn't completely
sketch Nandini's character. If thats the case then which character do we
feel is the most complete one in PS. One which dint make us feel "Kalki
should've given this guy/lady more space".
  • I feel VD's character is complete or well rounded. If you study
literature they teach about 'flat' and 'round' characters. Flat
characters are those that are always good/bad, never develop or show
any emotion and in other words 'boring'. Round characters are more
human like, have good and bad sides but reader can comprehend what
type of person they really are. Nandini is round but problem is
reader can never comprehend her. Vandhiyadevan is well developed,
loyal, heroic, same time hasty, emotional, you can see the guy and
follow the story through his eyes. To some extent Kandha Maaran is
also like that.Among women, Poonguzhali is well rounded. Vanathi,
totally flat. Kundavi is ok, but could have been better developed I
    feel.
  • I think i'll go for Parthibendren. Small but a character which has simply
stuck in my mind. Dont know why.
  • Yeah, as you said, this is a topic that we never discussed (????) I
guess. I feel, Kundavai's is one of the most complete characters in
PS. Her love for her country, her family and her love for a commoner
    are all very well written.
