Kurungadurai. As this temple is situated at the west coast of River

    VadaKurangaduthurai. Once Vali during war
lost half of his tail (got cut). He worhsipped Lord Dayanitheeswarar at
this temple and got his tail back.Hence the name Valeepureeswarar. Lord
also helped a pregnant women by bending down a cocunut tree to quench
the thirst of that women, hence the name Kulaivangunathar.
Arunagirinathar has also written 3 verses on Lord Muruga who is at the

  • AADUTHURAI @ Kurangaduthurai ( Kum - Mayavaram route) is
    Sembianmadevi converted Katrali.

    This is Vadakundagaduthurai.

Interesting.. Will visit. Thanks & regards / sps
  • I visited this place 2 years back. Found this to be a very serene place with not much commotion. There are two big temples, one shiva(as nataraj has desribed) and one perumal temple. Both are beautiful. kaveri flows just behind these temples.
For people who want to go there, you can go by bus from kumbakonam(KM-Thiruvaiyaru bus) and need to get down at Ullikadai stop.
Enroute you can also visit Swamimalai, kapisthalam etc.
