There is a famous verse named "Cholanadu Sorudaithu".
So there is no surprise by name "chottruthurai" indicating the fertility of the
place. Keeping Thiruvaiyaru as Lankmark,Among the sapthasthana
shalams,Thiruchottruthurai comes third.According to Legend, when the marriage of
nandhi took place in Thirumazhapadi, All kinds of food were prepared and sent
from here(again indicating the fertility). There are statues of Arulalar and his
wife with "atchaya pathiram" in their hands where they served food to everyone
    (gods gift)

  • Dear Nataraj,

Hats off to the noble work done by you.
    Just one small question.
I am intrigued by the frequency with which you post the vaaram oru aalayam series.
Can you please tell me how you visit all these temples?
Do you visit them on your weekends?
Do you visit them alone or does someone accompany you in these trips?
  • HEARSAY THAT RICE GREW IN THE FORM OF "SOARU" ..

forming part of Sapthasthanam of Thiruvaiyaru - 7 Glass pallakkus
move around 7 nearby Siva temples! Grand festival.

    ancient Annapoorni Sannidhi...

In 1992 brought out the importance of this Temple to Hoteliers
around and they started supporting this Temple .. !!

    thanks Nataraj.
