  • Yes, it is in chapter 16 of volume 4.

Val vil Ori of (ancestors of Sambuvarayar) was killed by Malaiyaman
    Thirumudikkari.

Ori's relative, Athiyaman Nedumananji, as an act of revenge, destroyed
Thirukkovalur and the Mullur hill fort.

    Malayaman and Sambuvarayar had "kulappakai"

  • It would be interesting to see how today's descendants of these great
    clans behave.
Be it political personnel or common men. If any one can trap that
part of tree, that will be great analysis, may be a cure sometime to
    these age old vengence.
  • Dear Mr.Sampath,

According to history Sambuvarayars don't have any
connections with Val Vil Ori. Its found that the Sambuvarayars were
descedents of the old Oyman clan(Also known as Oy).One noted oyman ruler
is Oyman Nalliankodan who ruled with capital Kidangal(Kidangal is in
Tindivanam).Val Vil ori is the leader of Kolli Malai. He belong to
Mazhavar clan called Kolli Mazhavar.Adigamans were mazhavars too and
belong to Thagadur Mazhavar clan. Also its said that Pazhuvettarayar
    belong to Mazhavar clan.
  • I think the Sambuvaraya and the Malayaman chieftains didn't have
Kulapakai.Maybe they turned hostile at one situation. This is evident
when we hear about the agreement between various
feudatories.Sambuvaraya, malayaman and a Kadavarayar making an agreement
against another Sambuvaraya and Adhiyaman. We hear of such agreements
when the Chola empire grew very weak and the feudatories became too
    strong to be controlled.
Also the Malayamans,Sambuvarayars and the kadavarayar
chieftains had a good understanding. After the decline of the Cholas the
Malayaman chieftains became very weak.During the later Pandiyan times
only the Sambuvarayars and the Kadavarayars were powerful. Its found
that the Malayaman descendents at a later stage were offered protection
by Sambuvarayars and the Kadavarayars. These three ruler clans had close
    ties.
  • Thanks Naresh. I have a cynical view of history; I take hisorical
accounts as presented withour criticising or believing. History is more
of a 'biased' interpretation by a 'learned' individual and is likely to
be refuted in course of time.

I believe in sampradayams and oral traditions because they have an
    element of faith.

Anyway my posting is on what Kalki wrote in PS.

  • Dear Mr.Vijayakumar,
yes possibilities are there for your views
    too.Several years back i read a book about "Malayamans"(I don't remember
the author).According to him after their decline some malayaman families
migrated to Thiruvannamalai and they were welcomed and protected by the
Sambuvarayas who were powerful. This point mentioned made me think like
that. Also i found that almost all the feudatories except adigaman are
in some way related. For Eg:History books mentions that there must be
some close relationship between the Sambuvarayas and the Kadavarayars
(also known as Sambu kula Kadavar) and kadavarayars and malayamans had
    matrimonial alliances.
But as you have said there might have been
kulapakai and i cannot deny that completely.
  • Dear Mr.Ravi,

I have that interest too.But for that we have to discuss
    about each one malayaman,Pazhuvettarayar etc.We'll go slow.But what i
can say for sure is the descendents of these personalities are not very
rude or violent and they don't have any enimities now(I hope so).
  • Dear Mr.Sivapathasekaran,
While viewing your post i had a thought. You
mentioned Kadayezhu vallals. So is there possibilies for Muthal yezhu and
idai yezhu vallals? Is there any ways to know about them?
