Who owns the media in India? Interesting
  • Who owns the media in India ?

There are several major publishing groups in India , the most prominent

among them being the Times of India Group, the Indian Express Group, the

Hindustan Times Group, The Hindu group, the Anandabazar Patrika Group, the

Eenadu Group, the Malayalam Manorama Group, the Mathrubhumi group, the

Sahara group, the Bhaskar group, and the Dainik Jagran group.

Let us see the ownership of different media agencies.

NDTV: A very popular TV news media is funded by Gospels of Charity in Spain

that supports Communism. Recently it has developed a soft corner towards

Pakistan because Pakistan President has allowed only this channel to be

aired in Pakistan . Indian CEO Prannoy Roy is co-brother of Prakash Karat,

General Secretary of Communist party of India. His wife and Brinda Karat are

    sisters.

India Today which used to be the only national weekly which supported BJP is

now bought by NDTV!! Since then the tone has changed drastically and turned

    into Hindu bashing.

CNN-IBN: This is 100 percent funded by Southern Baptist Church with its

branches in all over the world with HQ in US. The Church annually allocates

$800 million for promotion of its channel. Its Indian head is Rajdeep

Sardesai and his wife Sagarika Ghosh.

Times group list: Times Of India , Mid-Day, Nav-Bharth Times, Stardust

, Femina, Vijaya Times,Vijaya Karnataka, Times now (24- hour news

channel) and many more. Times Group is owned by Bennet & Coleman.

'World Christian Council' does 80 percent of the Funding, and an

Englishman and an Italian equally share balance 20 percent. The

Italian Robertio Mindo is a close relative of Sonia Gandhi.

Star TV: It is run by an Australian, who is supported by St. Peters

    Pontificial Church Melbourne .

Hindustan Times: Owned by Birla Group, but hands have changed since

Shobana Bhartiya took over. Presently it is working in Collaboration

    with Times

    Group.

    The Hindu:

English daily, started over 125 years has been recently taken over by

Joshua Society, Berne , Switzerland . N.Ram's wife is a Swiss national.

Indian Express: Divided into two groups.

The Indian Express and new Indian Express (southern edition)

ACTS Christian Ministries have major stake in the Indian Express and latter

is still with the Indian counterpart.

Eeenadu: Still to date controlled by an Indian named Ramoji Rao. Ramoji Rao

is connected with film industry and owns a huge studio in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Jyothi: The Muslim party of Hyderabad known as MIM along with a

Congress Minister has purchased this Telugu daily very recently.

The Statesman: It is controlled by Communist Party of India. Kairali TV: It

is controlled by Communist party of India (Marxist)

Mathrubhoomi: Leaders of Muslim League and Communist leaders have major

    investment.

Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle: Is owned by a Saudi Arabian Company with

    its chief Editor M.J. Akbar.

The ownership explains the control of media in India by foreigners. The

    result is obvious.
  • Hi

do we get unbiased news from kalaignar t.v, jaya t.v or sun t.v- all
    wholly indian owned media groups.

  • well jaya tv is owned by jayalalitha, whose best friends' husband's mistress
is christian... see? see the connection?

you already know about kalaignar and sun tv.. christian converts own a
majority stake in these media channels... see? see the connection again?

you only have to look a little deeper, right, Sateesh?

    ;)
  • My god
madan how can you be so alert so early in the morning, so early in
    the week?

well this ownership of media business is more to earn profits for the
religious trusts that own it than to thrust its beleifs.
the brainwashing of the people can be done only when there are
restricted media. but even that failed in the doordarshan experiment.

when babu jagajivan ram( just jumping from the congress to the
janantha) was addressing a massive public meeting in delhi the govt
run doordarshan without a prior planning started relaying the adults
only movie "bobby" to pull away the crowd.
but what happened a week later at the polling house.?

and talking of brinda karat .

a novel like story of hers.
got married during the emergency under assumed names.
acted in a movie on anti sikh riots.
fought for women rights within and outside the communist party

and talking of N.Ram's wife- susan.
    they are now long divorced.

  • Hi Friends,

I just informed you about the owner of major media are not Indian, they
are controling the Indian media from outside, Which means we can not rely on
them all the time..even I myself have found the difference in news in
different channels...so this information is to create awareness only....In
this group we need not to discuss further about this I think...Moderator and
PS loving people may not like this discussion..
  • Satheesh: Talk of what this group will like and wont like, Satheesh you are
presumptuous... if you cant catch the pun in my mail, god save you...

and btw, when will you start acknowledging the fact that you actually
'forwarded' the details and not found them all by digging up data... you
make it sound like you yourself researched and found out so much data... for
all you know, the forwarded info might be wrong... well, just my two cents
worth... upto you to learn the email etiquette thingy...

Venkatesh: am in the US for a couple of weeks, and it was evening here...
well, that explains the clarity of thought, doesnt it ;)
  • This is shocking and explains many things.
  • I too came across this sometime back. But I was not shocked :)

Comparing these with Sun, Jaya or kalaignar tv - I think comparing
apple to oranges. These tamil tv's do not have any hidden agenda. They
are clear to spread their party's voice. As simple as that. But other
media who claims to provide neutral news or actually not neutral.
I have never read any neutral article in The Hindu so far. Every
editorial will be biased. Many say it should not be named 'The Hindu'
because its anti-hindu. Many people have stopped buying Hindu these
days just because its not neutral.

If congress wins, its peoples mandate, if congress looses, its
malpractice by the winning party - this is what our media has been
    feeding to the public.

Just a tip of the iceberg. Not even a single media appreciated NDA
rule for the 'golden quadrangle' project. Everyone is ready to bash
BJP for their agenda, but being neutral is to appreciate what they did
as well. Whenever I drive to Kanchi or vellor and once to Hosur, I
felt elated to see the sign board 'Mumbai - 4329 KM' and on way
back 'Kolkata - 6400 KM' or so. ECR redifined the way we looked at
roads. The basic necessity has become a 'pay and use' item for us and
inspite of achiving this noone appreciated this. whatever was not
achieved in 50 years, NDA achieved in 5 years. I think leaving all
things apart we should appreicate them for this marvelous achivement,
but miserably failed. I clocked 3.30 hours from Hosur to Poonamalee (I
think SPS can do that in 2 hours :) )

These roads reminds me of the 'Rajapattai' kalki describes in his
novels. With all facilities to the common public. Difference is it
hasa bullock carts, we have automobiles:)
  • Good point. I read MSNBC news (here in US) regularly,
and whenever they have a news article on either
Microsoft, NBC or GE (their parent companies), they
specifically mention that MSNBC is affiliated to them,
so that we are warned of any bias. I think it is good
practice, although it would be a big leap for Tamil TV
    channels :)

    -arul.
  • okay, folks, its getting personal here...

shirleyvijay2... am sorry, I did not mean to offend anybody... and I do not
know the facts of ownership of any of the channels I mentioned... it was
mentioned to be a pun... to point out that the whole mail seemed to be
biased against christian missionaries... but nobody seems to be getting the
    pun.

    well, please forget my mail.

But one thing I do want to mention before I let go of this is: My personal
opinion is that any anti/pro-religious propaganda will serve to split the
united people, and will be against the interests all of us as people and us
as a nation. The mail from Satheesh sounded anti-christian to me, and hence
I opposed. But looks like am on the wrong side, since the rest of the group
    doesnt seem to mind.

Again, I did not mean any offense to anybody... apologize if I have hurt
    anybody in the process.
  • Hi,

This is really interesting discussion. Particularly, if we watch the
pattern in which news reporting is done, we can easily judge, where
    the root lies :)

Is there any proofs, or references, where the ownership is exposed?

i came across this interesting blog, which exposed The Hindu..

    rangaramanathan.wordpress.com

The blogger has published the screenshot of online portal of THe
Hindu, and in that, out of 13 frontpage articles, 8 are about
communist party and china. It appeared as though, The Hindu had
    become communist mouthpiece.

Secondly, The Deccan Chronicle.. edited by MJ Akbar .. and the
newspattern is mostly on Middle east, against america, supporting
iran, and most importantly, dead against BJP..
Very recently, they published an article "The Ugly Indian" on Modi..

So, as the Headlines, CNN-IBN.. particularly, i watched the way, IBN
reported Gujarat news, and it exposed itself..
  • HI SPS

I am perturbed by the way this thread has started to run.
i guess we need to put a stop to this at this juncture before it
    takes a racial turn.

I wish you could do this.
  • Guys, we have some interesting disc going on stuff related to this
group - why dont we focus on those...

    vj
  • Hi All,

I am very sorry for posting that controversial message...I am the originator
of all these discussions...I swear myself not to post any message like this
    hereafter..
we shall concentrate on the precious PS, Kalki, History....................
  • Very well said, Sathish.
  • and, I was the one who unwittingly added fuel to the fire... sorry for that.
    will stop here.

hey, satheesh, give me a hi-fi. Friends again? :)
  • ayyoo ayyoo...Madan enna ithu chinnapulla thanama irukku...

"sandayum sacharavum pulavargalin paramparai sothu" - nakkeeran in
    tiruvilayadal.

Unless we dont fight and debate, we can learn. But wise men dont take
these fights and arguments to heart, personally.

We all are wise men(and ofcourse women) here (appadiya???)....
so no place for friends or enemies.

As SPS often quotes, we are all one big family :)
  • Hi-fi...

    ok madan???
  • Is it not High-Five?

    Rgds.,

    Shiv
  • so it is.

    High-five Satheesh.
  • s..

    it is...

High-five....(A gesture of greeting or elation; one person's upraised palm
slaps the upraised palm of another person *- from dictionary*)

    High-five madan
  • ada namba gummi adikara mathiri....
  • Vijay,

namma gummi is solo, High-five is duet....
so theres a lot of difference. :)
  • Thanks for accepting the comment.

    Rgds.,

    Shiv
