Dr.SRB's content... - Are we in the right direction?
  • Hello Guys,
while typing the content for tomorrow's posting, i wasnt very sure if we can proceed in this direction.. The next chapter in the book (article that is to appear), gives a very detailed description of Periya Kovil.. including Garbhagraha plan (which i am planning to scan t'row..)

Can we publish these stuffs in our group without getting proper permissions? I am increasingly getting worried, as the book also picturises & starts explaining the ground plan of periya kovil, gangaikonda cholisvaram etc.,

Pl. Advise about our course of action and lets reach a consensus. Maybe periya thalaingal can advise us... till then i will get into hibernation mode with this activity..
  • Dear Jana,
Your work deserves full appreciation - since you are trying to get
    into the
facts and also express your surprises and questions. This makes your
    work
    very interesting.
Coming to your questions - I have answers for many of them but I have
    the
bad(?) habit of providing very detailed answers to each qn.

I have not yet completed Kundavai - and you have raises qns about
    thanjai
thalikulathar etc!! Well, we will take it up one by one.

Coming to how we can proceed with this:

Can you please list out all temples assigned to Rajaraja period,
    where they
are and what this place is called in present days. You may conclude
    with
this, as the author will then start going very deep into each temple
    and we
can't go on like this. I'll try to get the address of Dr.SRB's Son,
Mr.B.Venkatraman and we will then ask permissions for selective
    reproductions from the book.

You may do a similar exercise for other kings like rajendra - giving
    a
brief synopsis of the king, and then temples built by him etc. -
    provided
    you have time.

One small tip before I conclude : In one of his research articles,
Kudanthai N.Sethuraman proves that it was not Thanjai thalikulathar
    temple
that rajaraja renovated - periyakoil was a completely new structure.
    I'll
    write about this later.
