Hi, I've learnt a lot about history from this group.But still...won't history be one-sided?That is..we come to know about past from inscriptions,literarture etc..won't it be declaring plus points alone or won't the poems be exaggerations?So how far we can beleive in those facts? I too feel that we take much pride of our past.But is there anything wrong in that?
What have I learnt from PS?
well,Ponniyin Selvan greatly helped me to mould my character.It's not just a historic novel for me. I don't know why but while reading PS I got interested in philosophy & religion.I became patronised to Lord Shiva. That led me to think about what God is and all such topics..and somewhat I became clear. While reading I soon realised that everyone in their view is a hero.Can we say anyone as villian of the story in PS?No,because we were provided with all their views.That helped me to think about opponent's view in all matters I deal with.I learnt to accept others view,even though I don't agree with it. When VT decides to speak truth,no one will beleive him.It was painful to realise the value of truth.At same moment when VT decides to speak only truth,I too decided to speak truth all my life(I wonder how long it's going to last!). VT will be so much patronised to PS that he'll think ' whether Arul Mozhi Varmar will like me doing this '. It made me think ' whether God will like me doing this? '.So it helped me stabilise myself.I stopped shouting at others,being angry,doing useless things,hurting other living organisms etc... Mandhahini Devi's love for Sundara Cholar-a love without expectation that extended even towards his chhildren. At later stage in story,she'll be loving him even without expecting love in return.It was quite impressive. Arul Mozhi Varamar was ready to give off the throne to Madhurantakar,just because he was Mandhahini's son. Kundhavai will be affectionate to Nandhini after she learns who was her mother.We like or don't like a person based on behaviour.But Arulmozhivarmar & Kundhavai,even though they didn't like Madhurantakar and nandhini's behaviour,they liked them because of Mandhahini.This made me love all life on the earth just because they were God's creations.I love God so I love them too. Many such incidents made me think...and for me PS is not just a novel.It's something that made me realise what life is.
