Lakshmi,according to me History is a mirror that reflects our culture, tradition,lifestyles etc.It depicits the evolution of man to such a great height.
Though iam not a historical bug,p.s had made me moved towards history.After reading it,i became interested in knowing our ancestoral history.
History always provides lessons to us.But, unfortunately we are not following it today.
Finally, "History repeats itself". And iam sure we're going to witness it.
You are very much literate.. forget that part.Like who live on the third house, we do read certain materials related to epigraphy.. Kalaikkovans Varalaru and ASI's Kalvattu Publications should be able to throw more light. We will discuss this later.
We have been planning to conduct a small group discussion by inviting Learned and Revered ones like Dr. Kalaikkovan (Varalaru)- Nalini - Akila, Kudavoilbalu (Saraswathimahal - Thanjai)- he identified the Pallippadai of Sundarachola and Vanamadevi near Thirukkandiyur - Rettakkoil, Ariyalur Dr.Thiagarajan - recently he found the Dino Egg and a buried City near Ariyalur (There is a Fossil Forest also!), ASI - Rajagavelu (researched Thiruvalangadu and researching Chidambaram) - Dr. Nagaswamy - Scholar - specialised in RR - Marksiya Gandhi (researched more around Pantruti area - says Parangipettai was the capital of Tamilnadu during Protugese period!).
After seeing participants interest in SS, I suggest to keep the Venue at Sterling (Hotel Tamilnadu Converted), Mahabalipuram - see front - with the view of Shore temple.
We can prepare a along questionaire and restrict it to 100 or about 10 - 15 to each Participant and inform the Scholars forehand so that they can come prepared.
Saturday evening - Sunday Morning (other than Ayutha Pooja Holidays) preferred in Sept - October.
