REPOST: An excellent interview about kalki
  • Hi
most of the interviews about kalki have a one sided picture.
a partial picture portrait emerges in sunda's book ponniyin
puthalvar. it is very obvious that sunda himself is very restrained
    on kalki's negative traits.
kalki was quite inconsitent in giving interviews. it starts with his
    explaining HIS PEN NAME.
in one place he attributes it to the tenth avathar and in one place
says its because of thiru vi ka.
but when you are thro with his biography the most disturbing facet
    was his anandavikadan baiting.
a.v was his employer for 10 years and he became what he was because
of vasan. vsan had made kalki a honoured editor paying him almost
double and giving him a ford car.
there was plenty of critiscm at that time that kalki suppressed
talent in the magazine and wrote a host of articles himself under
different pen names. but vasan supported him.
the moment he left a.v he started criticising vasan and a.v for
almost everything.he even assumed a new pseudonymn tamil magan(???)
his politics, his editorials, even his movies.
the one point agenda during some point of kalki magazines first
    decade was criticising a.v
he even ran a cartoon depicting the vikadan logo as a rat or
    something.
vikadan in the next issue depicted kalki as a fly on the tail of the
rat with the wordings- Kalk eeeeeee.
the feud ran further with vasan refusing to release kalki's writing
    for publishing.
it stopped only with kalkis premature death and vasan stopping the
presses in ananda vikadan and creating a new cover with kalki's photo.
