SPS, can you find more ? May be we can attend this.
Dear Scholars,
You may remember the discussions on this list about the neolithic axe found recently in Tamil Nadu and the possible connections to the Indus culture. (The claims concerning those connections were met with deep skepticism from many list members.)
Recently I have received the announcement for an international seminar that is going to be held in Chennai to explore Indus Civilization and its possible connections to Tamil language. They plan to publish the proceedings as well.
For details, please see http://www.safarmer .com/Indo- Eurasian/ Chennai.seminar. pdf
In my opinion, this seminar can benefit by the participation of international scholars with more rigorous and state-of-the- art methodologies and knowledge in fields such as archaeology, linguistics, and philology than those that are often associated with regionally organized conferences like these. This may further dispassionate and critical studies of ancient history and culture in Tamil Nadu.
Those who are interested in participating can write to
tnarch@tn.nic. in with a copy to s_rajagopal@ vsnl.com .
If the dates do not suit to you, we will workout specific progm when you reach Chennai from London and those who happen to miss the earlier meet are also welcome.
