That is so touching and what one would expect from President Kalam. There was a really nicely done tv serial once a upon a time (atleast 15 yrs back) on Doordarshan. His poetry captures well the anguish of a helpless king who is entrusted with the responsibility of leading scattered princely states. The later poetry becomes unbearably melodramatic no doubt due to the brutal execution of his heirs.
Talking of kings in exile, I really like "The Glass Palace".. a story that includes the last years of reign and exile of the Burmese royal family. Emperor Zafar went to Rangoon and the Burmese king was exiled to Masilipatnam (I think)..
