    All,

Mr.SRiram is an asset to us. For his stature, he is so humble,we all
were mesmerized by him. he was patiently talking about various
subjects and clarified many of our doubts. Everything cannot be said
here..just a gist of some interesting topics...

    - While Gokul was lecturing on the technique of how we can picturise
the paintings, in the ASI hall on 30th Jan 2005, Sriram was alreayd
taking the pictures with the same technique and when Gokul finished
his lectrue, Sriram was finished with his 2 weeks(?) effort of
taking the photos. Even now the details are not disclosed as he says
he is still analyzing it. He literally called it 'rendu varusha
yogam'. what words to use? Great sir.

    - A lot about the paintings was told by him. I leave the details to
him, so that we can hear from the horse's mouth when the work is
    done.

    - He too strongly belives that the painting is of RRC. Main point
was, the characteristics of Cheraman peruman and this figure is
entirely different and so he surely is not Cheraman peruman.

    - He strongly says that the avudayar in big temple is of single
stone which he himself has personally seen. There is a crack formed
in the avudayar due to the beams falling on it due to pressure of
the weight. Even if the crack is considered to be different pieces,
he has analyzed the size and shape of the pieces and its impossble
to take them through the entrance. This is totally against what
Dr.Kkvn claims in his varalaaru.com article this month.

    - He said the mistakes done in big temple were rectified in GKC and
quoted quite a few examples for this.

A lot more which cannot be shared in a short mail.

Sriram sir, you are really an asset to us. We cherished the time.
Thanks for spending your valuable time with novice like us. If i
have quoted you and your points more than what should i have,
extremely sorry, its just out of the joy of learning from you.

When we were feeling that we have learned enough to make a debate in
this group, he has made us to think twice now....we surely are half
baked with no information at all. :)
  • Hi sathish

. He literally called it 'rendu varusha
    > yogam'. what words to use? Great sir.

    nee bovonto kudindhunde gavanikkala.

actually he said redu varsha yaagam. which is actually better.

whereas sriraman would always be stressing on the need for common
sense in this field( which is very uncommon he used to say) what we
all fet was his immense patience and dedication in his work.

he has in the past never rushed to the audience after a new discovery
let alone a concept or a idea.
made me happy that such people still exist in this world where people
are media hungry for even half baked ideas

  • Hi all,

To share my thoughts about the meet on 02-09. The meeting nearly lasted 4 hours, from 5.45 to 9.30. This is the first time that I am meeting most of the other membersof the group.
I was really amazed at the amount of interest and knowledge the group members have with the Periyakoil. I have been to periya koil for almost all of my birthdays and Tamil New year days but still blind to all the details they were talking about(pity me!!!!!).

Sriraman sir shared his archelogical experience. To me it felt like listening from senior Jones of Indiana jones and the last crusade. I would never miss another oppurtunity to meet him and really excited about the bangalore trip planned this weekend with him.

During the dicussion when it turned towards how british managed the army here( few hundred of their men and thousands of indians in the troops), Swetha commented that they are koolipadai. I drew parallel to the IT scenario in indiatoday, which are similar to the kooliopadai of preindepence days.

Howdy, Stranger!
