Bloopers : 1) While it is insisted through out the novel that Sundara Cholar has only one wife- Vanamadevi. He is extolled as having followed Ega Patni vratam , but there is a mention of another wife also. In the first part Episode no 43 - "Pazhayarai" the following line is there " Sundara Cholarin Marroru pathiniyana SERAMAN MAGAL PARANDAGAN DEVI".
2) The confusion in the chronology of events is quite evident. Particularly the age of Aditha karikalan and the year of the final battle with the pandiyan king is given differently in different places. While the age of Aditha karikala is given as 24 by Thirukovalur malaiyaman in the fourth part episode 2 - PATTANUM PERANUM, it is also mentioned in many places that he took part he battle of SEVUR at a tender age of 12 and that particular battle is said to have taken place only 6 years before the period of the story.
3) The problem which plagues all serialized stories - lack of continuity, is also present. While ponniyin selvan is mentioned in "Mariyadai Panmai" as "avar and ivar" from the time of his introduction in the second part till the 42 episode of the fourth part where Kalki suddenly starts referring to him in "ORUMAI" as "avan" and "ivan"
